Kathmandu Metropolitan City is set to launch a night-time public bus service in partnership with Sajha Yatayat from Baisakh 1 (April 14) to ease transportation problems after 8 pm. The service will operate four electric buses on two routes – Lagankhel to Budhanilkantha (north–south) and Thankot to Tribhuvan International Airport (east–west). Buses will run from 8 pm to 11 pm at 20-minute intervals. All buses will be equipped with CCTV cameras and accompanied by metropolitan police for passenger safety. Acting Mayor Sunita Dangol said the service aims to address difficulties faced by commuters, especially women, students, and evening workers, due to limited public transport at night. Officials said the initiative is part of KMC’s effort to provide safe, affordable, and reliable nighttime transportation across the city.
