Kathmandu – Nepal has once again revised fuel prices, adding further pressure on consumers already facing rising living costs. The state-owned Nepal Oil Corporation (NOC) implemented the new rates effective from midnight. According to the latest adjustment, the prices of diesel and kerosene have been significantly increased by Rs 30 per litre. Aviation fuel has also been raised by Rs 5 per litre, while the price of petrol has been kept unchanged. With the revision, diesel and kerosene are now priced at Rs 237 per litre, while aviation fuel for domestic use has reached Rs 256 per litre, as stated by the corporation. Despite the hike, the NOC has indicated that it continues to operate at a loss due to persistent increases in international fuel prices. The latest price adjustment reflects Nepal’s heavy dependence on imported petroleum products, making the domestic market highly vulnerable to global price fluctuations. In recent weeks, fuel costs have been rising steadily, forcing repeated revisions. The impact of the price hike is expected to be widespread. Higher fuel costs typically lead to increased transportation expenses, which in turn push up the prices of goods and services across the country. Economists warn that continued fuel price increases could further strain household budgets and slow down economic activities, particularly in sectors heavily reliant on transportation and logistics. As global oil prices remain volatile, further adjustments in fuel pricing cannot be ruled out, raising concerns among consumers and businesses alike.
