Young leaders of the Nepal Communist Party (NCP) have expressed dissatisfaction with the recently formed 45-member Central Coordination Committee, saying it undermines party statutes and fails to represent inclusive participation. The NCP, formed through the merger of 25 factions including the former CPN (Maoist Center) and CPN (Unified Socialist), faced disappointing election results, prompting coordinator Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’ to present a preliminary review report.

Critics, including Ranjit Tamang and Pancha Singh, argued that the committee repeats the same leadership figures, neglects generational change, and risks party dissolution. Prem Jaisi challenged Prachanda’s report blaming youth disengagement, stating that student organizations like the All (Revolutionary) achieved electoral success due to active youth participation.

The NCP leadership, represented by Ramkumar Bhattarai, said discussions on the report, preparations for the General Convention, and municipal-level conventions will continue. Concerns remain over statutory compliance, as the interim NCP statute calls for a 601-member Central Committee and consensus-based formation of committees, while the current 45-member committee has only four female members.
