Kathmandu: The Government of Nepal has released a draft of its proposed National Commitment Plan, inviting feedback from political parties and key stakeholders in an effort to build a more inclusive and unified national development strategy.

Prepared under the leadership of the Prime Minister’s Office, the draft outlines an 18-point framework designed to align policy priorities with long-term national goals.

Focus on Reform and Development

The draft plan addresses several major sectors critical to Nepal’s development, including economic reform, agriculture, tourism, aviation, energy, infrastructure, and employment generation.

It also places strong emphasis on governance improvements such as anti-corruption efforts, administrative reform, enhanced public service delivery, and the expansion of digital governance systems.

Broad Sectoral Coverage

In addition to economic priorities, the document incorporates key social and environmental areas, including education, healthcare, forest conservation, climate action, social inclusion, disaster management, and microfinance.

The plan also highlights the importance of leveraging the skills, investment, and expertise of the Nepali diaspora, along with strengthening foreign policy and international relations.

Built from Political Consensus

The initiative follows the government’s earlier 100-point action plan, which aimed to integrate key agendas from various political party manifestos into a unified national framework.

Officials say the final version of the document will reflect a broader national consensus after incorporating stakeholder feedback.

What’s Next?

The government has urged stakeholders to provide their recommendations before finalizing the plan. Once revised, the document is expected to guide future government policies, programs, and budget planning.

The National Commitment Plan is expected to play a key role in shaping Nepal’s governance reforms, economic growth, and overall development direction.
